Baroque guitar

The Baroque guitar (c. 1600-1750) is a string instrument with five courses of gut strings and moveable gut frets. The first (highest pitched) course sometimes used only a single string. History of the Baroque guitar replaced the Renaissance lute as the most common instrument found when one was at home.

Theorbo

The theorbo is a plucked string instrument of the lute family, with an extended neck and a second pegbox. Like a lute, a theorbo has a curved-back sound box (a hollow box) with a wooden top, typically with a sound hole, and a neck extending out from the soundbox.
